The Pencil Play Pals Brand.
2009 saw the launch of the Pencil Play Pals with four children’s books published by Whehey Publishing. These humorous, and beautifully illustrated books are recommended for children aged three to ten years old.
They consist of two storybooks—The Pristine Pig and The Crocodile Who Thought She Was a Duck. A games book—Pencil Play Pals Pencil Games, and a die-cut book of ten Pencil Play Pals characters—Press-out Pencil Play Pals.

Introduced at the same time came framed and canvas prints of many of the illustrations Norman Childes (author and illustrator) originally created to help tell his stories.

The Pencil Play Pals characters.

So far there are 20 pencil loving animal characters within the Pencil Play Pals brand. Each hoping to inspire children into picking up pencils and letting loose their creativity through writing and drawing. Some leading by example—like Curly Tail who brings us the story of The Pristine Pig. Charley Chomp, who dreamed up The Crocodile Who Thought She Was a Duck, and all twenty of them show how to play their personal favorite pencil related games in Pencil Play Pals Pencil Games.

Ten Pencil Play Pals are ready and waiting for a child to give them a pencil to grab hold of. They can be found in Press-out Pencil Play Pals series 1. Writing and drawing is much more fun for children when they can do it with friends. And Pencil Play Pals would love to help them start a diary, draw a picture or perhaps write a letter to someone special.
